Ben is a former Senior Adviser on Foreign Affairs and Defence for the Liberal Democrats. In this role he advised the leadership and Shadow Cabinet and coordinated policy development and media strategy. He also acted as Team Leader for the Security and Society Team in the party’s Policy and Research Unit.
Ben has extensive experience in EU affairs, having worked as Chief Press Officer for the Britain in Europe campaign and before that as Head of Media for the Liberal Democrat MEPs in Brussels. He worked in European public affairs at the American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union, and took part in the European Commission’s internship programme in 2001.
Ben holds a First Class degree in Politics from the University of Sheffield (1999) and an MPhil in History of Political Thought from the University of Cambridge (2000). In 2008 he was invited by the United States to take part in their Young European Leaders Visitor Programme.
He joined Interel Consulting in July 2010 where he specialises in supporting defence and security clients.
