Stephen leads our Transport sector an established industry specialist having spent the first fifteen years of his career in the Department for Transport and subsequently holding senior positions in the public affairs industry.

As an official Stephen advised Ministers on a range of transport policy issues, including financial policy for the then nationalised transport industries, policy toward the Passenger Transport Executives, bus deregulation, ports policy, and public transport in London and the emerging Docklands. He worked on four Transport Bills, and for two years was the Principal Private Secretary to successive Ministers of State for Transport, Sir David Mitchell and the Rt Hon Michael Portillo.

On leaving the department Stephen worked for two leading public affairs consultancies before joining the specialist transport public affairs consultancy, The Waterfront Partnership, in 1996 becoming its Deputy Managing Director two years later. He joined Interel Consulting in 2005.

Stephen currently advises clients such as Invensys Rail Systems, Kapsch and Abellio.
