Our services
Politics International's information
unit monitors the output from all UK Government departments, both
Houses of Parliament, the Scottish Parliament and the Welsh, Northern
Ireland and London Assemblies, European institutions, political
parties, pressure groups, think tanks, non-governmental bodies
and industry regulators. We offer all clients a monitoring service
tailored to their individual requirements.
Our Monitoring Plus service
adds a telephone-based advisory service, offering clients strategic
advice on the possible significance for them of developments flagged
up in their monitoring. PI also publishes regular newsletters
and digests for clients who prefer to receive information on parliamentary
and public policy developments analysed and distilled into a suitable
format.
Politics International consultants
undertake detailed research into policy development and legislative
and regulatory changes. We provide clients with thorough, tailored
analysis of how developments will impact on them and their business
sector, and offer strategies for managing the issues.
Client research is supplemented
with a programme of continuous, pro-active intelligence gathering,
making PI well-positioned to fulfil research and analysis projects
within the public policy and political arena.
We carry out political perceptions
audits to discover how clients are perceived by key opinion formers.
This process provides invaluable information to determine what
message and strategic changes should be made to help organisations
maximise the opportunities presented to it by the political environment.
Politics International has developed
specific training modules covering Whitehall, Westminster, local
and regional government, and the European Union. These can be
tailored to suit individual clients' needs and delivered by means
of half-day, one-day or two-day seminars.
The company also provides more
specialist training to address specific political events in which
clients may be asked to participate, including parliamentary select
committees. We support clients through the entire process including
monitoring and researching relevant issues, helping clients with
written submissions and preparing our clients to give oral evidence.
This includes running full-scale mock hearings to enable clients
to acclimatise to this unique parliamentary experience.
Politics International advises
clients on how best to control external messages. We help clients
to select the most appropriate form, content, timing and style
of approach for different identified audiences.
We also assist in the drafting
and preparation of written materials, as well as preparing our
clients to give oral briefings.
Politics International can
help clients to develop and implement pro-active and defensive
strategies designed to secure pre-determined commercial outcomes.
We help to ensure that clients are positioned to convey the right
messages, to the right people, at the right time. We advise on
the commercial implications of regulatory and policy change, including
assisting in securing changes in policy to accommodate particular
commercial objectives.
Politics International provides
full support for a contact management programme. We make sure
that our clients are targeting the right people at the right time
with the right message. We can advise on the best approach to
make in any given circumstance. We can help to arrange meetings
and can assist with written material including drafting letters
and briefing materials. We also attend meetings with clients to
provide feedback and develop follow-up strategies where necessary.
Often clients will want to
run distinct campaigns on a specific area of public policy. We
can advise on drawing up campaign programmes and related media
programmes and will assist in implementing an action plan.
Politics International has
worked on some of the most high profile procurement campaigns
in recent years in the United Kingdom. Projects we have advised
on range from major transport infrastructure projects to government
IT procurement and NHS hospital schemes. High profile campaigns
require a carefully planned and highly professional approach to
strategy. Politics International can act as an integral part of
a campaign or bid team, ensuring that bids are sensitive to the
political dynamics and sensitivities involved and that the correct
messages are conveyed to the most appropriate audiences at the
most effective time.
The company has particular
expertise in competition policy. We have direct and first hand
experience of working on high level strategic projects. We work
closely with a number of companies operating in heavily regulated
sectors. This work involves advising on competition authority
inquiries into affected sectors. In addition, we provide our clients
with intelligence on the development of UK and EU policy regulation.
Politics International has
worked on a range of mergers and acquisitions, both representing
parties to a bid as well as competitors affected by it. This gives
us a unique understanding of the dynamics of the entire process
and the public policy implications of it.
Politics International advises
clients on their public affairs strategy in respect of proposed
merger or bid scenarios. This work includes helping our clients
to secure a favourable outcome, as well as day-to-day liaison
with relevant opinion formers and regulators in UK and Brussels.
Politics International employees
have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the legislative
process, and staff have enormous experience of tracking and amending
bills through Parliament. Our in-house expertise can be deployed
to draft new amendments and to direct these to where they are
most likely to be tabled successfully.
The more a message is repeated,
the more that message is likely to be listened to and respected.
Building alliances is therefore a crucial part of any public campaign.
Politics International can help to identify campaign allies, and
will devise comprehensive strategies to secure widespread support.
Liaison with think tanks and
non-governmental organisations
Think tanks and non-governmental
organisations are important government partners in helping to
develop policy ideas. It is likely that at some time or another
most clients will wish to liaise with these bodies as a way of
influencing government policy.
We monitor the output of all the
major think tanks and NGOs, and work closely with clients to develop
appropriate programmes to educate their work
Speech and article writing
Ensuring that client speeches
and articles do not detract from public affairs work is an important
part of selling a message. We can advise on whether an invitation
to give a speech or write an article should be accepted, help
identify the best person in the organisation to respond, and assist
with the writing. Politics International also runs training sessions
to ensure that the speech is delivered for maximum benefit.
Politics International provides
full support for clients who wish to attend the main party conferences.
In addition to providing administrative back-up including making
travel arrangements, booking accommodation and applying for conference
passes, our consultants can advise on, and organise, fringe meetings,
receptions and dinners.
We also provide briefings in advance
on the context of each party conference, and de-briefings after
the conferences on the main themes that emerged.
Politics International provides
strategic advice on community involvement and consultation and
can devise and deliver specific programmes to support client requirements,
for examples in the planning process. Politics International's
team gives strategic advice on involving and consulting the public,
and building awareness and consensus. The team has considerable
experience in consensus building between the public, private and
NGO sectors.
Most clients at some point will
need help with organising a specialist event. Politics International
can advise clients on the most appropriate format, and can provide
support on all aspects of the event. This includes organising
venues, accommodation, catering and invitation lists as well as
finding speakers and handling the PR.
The range of events we have organised
includes conference stands, specialist seminars, public meetings
and receptions.
We
have extensive knowledge of the political media, and have a network
of contacts with political and specialist journalists. We can
advise on media handling, whether in support of reputation management
or in support of a campaign. We will assist in producing briefing
materials for the media, including press releases.
Politics International has
extensive and wide-ranging experience of predicting political
behaviour and trends. This has enabled us to provide our clients
with clear and detailed advice about both the opportunities and
problems that future political changes could bring. By plotting
the different processes of government policy making, and identifying
key positions within these structures, we can offer our clients
a unique insight. We have been particularly successful at identifying
new business markets as policy makers redefine public sector provision.
Crisis management
Politics International advises
on the political aspects of contingency planning in support of
companies' own more sophisticated crisis management plans
Politics International can
assist in the writing of submissions or evidence to Government
